Zu Jahresbeginn wurde der Jahrgang 2017 von allen Seiten als neuer Referenz-Jahrgang der Domaine Chanson Père & Fils gepriesen. Steven Spurrier, Jancis Robinson und Jasper Morris sparten nicht mit Lob und gaben den Weinen Chansons von 2017 Bestnoten.

Doch nun holt der Jahrgang 2016 auf. Die Ausgabe vom 30. April 2019 der US-amerikanischen Weinzeitschrift Wine Spectator befasste sich unter anderem mit dem Jahrgang 2016 verschiedener Appellationen. Im Top 10 der besten Premier Cru aus Beaune befinden sich gleich drei Weine von Chanson. Zwei davon liegen mit der höchsten Bewertung von 93 Punkten gleich im Top 3. Und das sind diese drei wunderbaren Beaune Premier Cru:

Beaune Clos du Roi Premier Cru 2016 (93 Punkte)

«A juicy, inviting red, with a supple texture framing the floral, cherry, raspberry, sandalwood and baking spice flavors. Beautifully balanced, fragrant and long. Best from 2021 through 2033.»

Beaune Clos des Marconnets Premier Cru 2016 (93 Punkte)

«A subtle vegetal aroma accents the central theme of black cherry and blackberry fruit, picking up warm spice notes as this plays out on the palate. Floral and mineral elements peck through as this builds to the lengthy finish. The tannins leave a dusty impression. Best from 2022 through 2038.»

Beaune Bastion Premier Cru 2016 (91 Punkte)

«A hefty dose of oak borders the plush core of black cherry flavors, with spice and toast accents. In the end, this is juicy, revealing and edge of tannins that tips to the dry side. Should come together in a year or two. Best from 2022 through 2036.»

In der gleichen Ausgabe interessierte sich die Zeitschrift auch für die Jahrgänge 2016 der Appellation Gevrey-Chambertin. Auch hier räumt die Domaine Chanson prächtig ab. Unter der Auswahl von nur vier Weinen befinden sich gleich zwei Weine unseres Winzers:
