Character

This rich, and long-lasting Montepulciano is dark red, with intense aromas on the nose of dried fruit, ripe dark berries and a slight vegetal note. On the palate it has a dry and fresh flavour with juicy tannins and a full, harmonious structure; alongside the fruit flavours come aromas of cocoa and chocolate.

Region

Abruzzen

With its long Adriatic coastline, the central-Italian region of Abruzzo is home to an array of vines full of character. Two-thirds of the Abruzzo region is mountainous, one third is hilly. Vines are planted at altitudes of up to 600 m a.s.l. at the feet of the mountain range on soils of limestone, clay, sand and gravel. The climate in this part of Italy is subject to significant fluctuations in temperature – not only in seasonal terms but also in day-time and night-time temperatures during the summer months. Generally, the ripening period is warm, and the location of the vineyards is ideal: They lean towards the sea, with the grapevines fully absorbing the summer warmth and solar reflection. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is produced in two styles in the finest quality: a young and fresh taste with a firm, fruity character, and an intensive, full-bodied, hearty wine.

Producer/Brand

Masciarelli

Gianni and Marina Masciarelli began producing wine on almost two hectares of land in the Abruzzo village of San Martino with its 800 inhabitants. They loved Abruzzo, its extraordinary landscape, its fragrance, its colours, its intense flavours – everything which is reflected in the local products. The region, its culture and its wine tradition play an important role in the company philosophy. Today, Marina Cvetic manages the Masciarelli company and the new winery professionally and with great commitment.
