Character

In the glass, this rich wine has a deep red-black gleam. On the nose are fragrances of prune, dried fig and ripe dark berries, with just a hint of sour cherry. On the palate it is aromatic, and here the fruity notes are joined by aromas of toast, coffee, chocolate and liquorice. A pleasing initial sweetness, lively tannins, a body that is full and soft, and a long finish characterise this exceptionally harmonious wine.

Region

Venetien

With its tourist hotspot of Venice, Veneto is one of Italy’s most popular wine regions – and among the country’s three largest. Geographically, Veneto is very diverse: One third of the area is covered in mountain ranges; the central planes contain extensive rice fields and are marked by a coastline. The Venetian wines are likewise multifarious. A rocky and calcareous soil, overlain with red and brown earth, provides the vines with good growth conditions. The foothills of the Alps secure the Northern border of the vast region and protect the area from the onslaught of the Northern-European weather –thus safeguarding a balanced climate. On the warmer plains on the Adriatic shore, predominantly red vine types are cultivated. Excellent white wines are produced in the cooler regions – undoubtedly the most well-known being Prosecco.

Producer/Brand

Tenuta Sant’Antonio
