Character

An incredibly harmonious and long-lasting wine with a garnet-red gleam. Nose and palate are both enchanted by intensive aromas of dried fig, plum and raisin, supplemented by subtle caramel and biscuit notes and just a hint of white blossom. On the palate it is fresh and highly mellow, with a lingering finish.

Region

Venetien

With its tourist hotspot of Venice, Veneto is one of Italy’s most popular wine regions – and among the country’s three largest. Geographically, Veneto is very diverse: One third of the area is covered in mountain ranges; the central planes contain extensive rice fields and are marked by a coastline. The Venetian wines are likewise multifarious. A rocky and calcareous soil, overlain with red and brown earth, provides the vines with good growth conditions. The foothills of the Alps secure the Northern border of the vast region and protect the area from the onslaught of the Northern-European weather –thus safeguarding a balanced climate. On the warmer plains on the Adriatic shore, predominantly red vine types are cultivated. Excellent white wines are produced in the cooler regions – undoubtedly the most well-known being Prosecco.
