Character

A fruity wine with a yellow gleam and stunningly intense aromas of apple, quince and vanilla, together with biscuit and toast and some very fine smoky dimensions. On the palate it has an appealing initial sweetness and a delightful, unbelievably soft, full and harmonious structure, followed by a long and enduring finish.

Region

Apulien

The Southern Italian Apulia is one of the country’s most productive winegrowing regions. Apulia extends across 400 kilometres from Gargano in the province of Foggia to the tip of Italy’s boot shape, a little beyond Lecce. The region is host to the largest number of vine varieties in Southern Italy, with more than 80 percent red vines. The Mediterranean climate and calcareous subsoils with layers rich in ferric oxide produce the perfect viticultural conditions. Dry-hot summers allow the vines to ripen optimally, the wines turning dark-red, earthy and full-bodied. In contrast to other Southern regions there are barely any mountains here, the landscape consisting mainly of plateaus and plains. A winegrowing region with enormous potential – the possibilities of the innumerable indigenous vine varieties are far from exhausted. Today, Apulia offers the finest quality wines, intense and full-bodied. The most excellent vine types grow on the Salento semi-peninsula.

Producer/Brand

Silentium

Silentium stands for an instant of stillness – that precious moment when the world turns a little more slowly and you can relax with a fine glass of red wine. Silentium is given plenty of time to reach perfect maturity: the wine rests for an extended period in barrique in the Silent Cellar where it is able to develop its full potential undisturbed. Enjoy it with a nice meal or indeed on its own!
