After a meticulous harvest, the grapes were partially destemmed then gently crushed. This was followed by fermentation at a temperature of around 30°C. After malolactic fermentation, the wine spent 12 months in stainless steel vats. A further 12 months of bottle ageing added the final polish.
Ruby colour, with a rich nose of black cherry, ripe plum, blackberry, and black pepper. Floral nuances (violet) and a minerally graphite note lend great appeal. Soft tannins, concentrated fruit and cool freshness in perfect interplay.
The Garnacha grapes for this wine were sourced from a small vineyard called Las Martas, which is situated at elevations of between 600 and 1,000 metres. Spectacular rock formations adorn the hilly landscape of the Calatayud wine region in the Zaragoza hinterland. Russet-coloured marl as well as sand and limestone offer the ideal soils for growing outstanding fruit from vines that are aged over 50 years in some cases.
