A brilliant, luminous gold colour, with a smooth, fat appearance. The initial nose is reminiscent of some of the great Barsacs, with hints of lemon, citron and lime, as well as menthol, floral, fresh, spring and even summer notes. The attack is fine and suave, with an unforgettable taste of apricot, candied citrus fruit, beggar's wort and dried fruit: the wine is a festival of flavours, with a mouth that is open, generous and extremely greedy. The sugar is meltingly sweet and incredibly delicious. This is THE Sauternes of dreams for rediscovering the appellation and the Château. It can even be drunk young. This wine is literally a party! Technique

Viticulture

Château d'Yquem, a legendary wine, is the only Sauternes 1er Cru Supérieur in the 1855 classification. Its unique quality has made it the ultimate benchmark for sweet wines. The 103-hectare vineyard enjoys ideal exposure and a terroir consisting of large gravelly pebbles on the surface, set on a clay subsoil. The average age of the vines is 35 years. Planting density is 6,700 vines/ha, with a yield of one glass per vine!

Oenology

Harvesting requires 5 to 6 selections, spread over 6 to 10 weeks. After pressing and fermentation, a long period in 100% new barrels begins. Each day's harvest is aged separately for 6 to 8 months. The following spring, the wine is pre-assembled. The wine is bottled during the 4th spring following the harvest, after a light fining. The bts are closed with a 54mm cork, a guarantee of long ageing.
