Viticulture

The origin of the Mission lies in a bequest made by Madame de Lestonnac to the Lazarist Fathers in the 17th century. In the 1920s, the property was acquired by Frédéric Woltner before his children sold it to the Dillon family in 1983. Laville Haut-Brion (now Mission Haut-Brion white) also joined the Dillon family at this time.

Oenology

Located almost in the middle of the city, the vineyard covers a gravelly hillock with a sandy-clay subsoil. The density is 10,000 vines/ha for a yield of about 32 hl/ha. The vines are 25 years old. Fermentation in barrels and ageing for 9 to 12 months in 40 to 50% new wood, the rest in older barrels.
