Loupiac, Cuvée d'Exception, Château Dauphiné-Rondillon (50 cl) - 2011

Fantastic nose of citrus jam and exotic fruit, incredibly precise for such a botrytised wine, with an integration of the ageing that is out of this world. The pleasure continues on the palate with a total harmony of flavours, a magical finesse of sugar and a phenomenal length, which can be counted in dozens of caudalies

Viticulture

The soil consists of a large gravelly hillock on the surface, followed by a clayey-gravelly soil, before reaching the limestone bedrock at greater depth. The wine is made from a selection of hundred-year-old vines. Hand-picked with a tight selection on the vine: strict selection of grapes affected by more than 90% noble rot.

Oenology

Pressing in the old fashioned way on a wooden press dating from 1903. Alcoholic fermentation in high quality French oak barrels, then aged for 18 months. Bottled with light filtration.

Suggestions for accompaniment

To be drunk on its own, with blue cheese (Roquefort, Stilton), or with an orange and chocolate tart.

Domain
Château Dauphiné-Rondillon was created in 1798 by Mr Alfred Debat. From the beginning, he decided to devote himself exclusively to the production of great sweet white wines. His descendant, Basile Debat, won a gold medal for a Loupiac 1900 at the Concours Général Agricole in 1901. Encouraged by this recognition of quality, Jean Darriet decided in 1920 to bottle his wine. The Château's label, created that year, has remained unchanged ever since. Overlooking the Garonne River, the Château is situated on the most beautiful terroirs of Loupiac and rises to 103 metres. This exceptional terroir is made up of a large gravelly ridge on the surface, followed by a clay-gravel soil, before reaching the limestone bedrock. The combination of this terroir, a south/south-west exposure, and a privileged geographical location offer exceptional conditions for the production of great sweet white wines. The work in the vineyard is carried out in a traditional manner and with respect for the environment: all the tasks in the vineyard are done manually (pruning, thinning out, harvesting). Organic amendments are controlled, treatments are carried out with natural contact products such as sulphur flower. The vegetative cycle and natural control are favoured with grassing in...
