Montagne St-Emilion, Au champ de la fenêtre, Simon Blanchard - 2019

Nose of small berries, blackberry, blackcurrant. It stands out at first sight by its particular aromatic vibration. The entry in mouth is very caressing, suave, with an irresistible greediness in the texture, while the body, spherical, is endowed with a very beautiful depth and a final in unison with what the nose let predict. Jeff Leve : 93/100 ; Guide Vert RVF: 92/100 ; Jane Anson : 91/100

Domain
Simon Blanchard is no stranger to the world of wine. The world's greatest estates call on him as a consultant in viticulture and oenology. After first studying biology, he turned to oenology. He met Stéphane Derenoncourt and joined him as a partner in 2010. Simon Blanchard works all over the world, but has long dreamed of a secret garden, a small estate of his own. The dream has come true and on a little more than one hectare, Simon Blanchard offers three cuvées, which we are happy to offer you exclusively for Switzerland. The estate boasts a supple and delicious Montagne St-Emilion "village" cuvée, and two parcel-based isolations: Au Champ de la Fenêtre, from a small plot of Merlot (60 ares) vinified in the Burgundian spirit, which seduces with its texture and greedy fruitiness; and Guitard, which comes from an even smaller plot (30 ares) located on the clay-limestone plateau of the appellation. Here is a priority discovery to make to convince yourself that high quality in Bordeaux does not necessarily mean unaffordable prices and that the time of Bordeaux bashing is over. But quantities are limited...
