Couleur sombre, intense, vive et pourpre. Merveilleux nez ! Intense, fin, subtil, pur, complexe, floral, épicé, avec une touche d'agrumes et de violette. Au final, il se rapproche plus de Pomerol que ce que l'on sait de Saint-Emilion. En bref, c'est du Cheval Blanc, ce lieu totalement à part. Délicat en entrée de bouche, comme souvent, moelleux et fondant au milieu, il prend une dimension autre en s'approchant de la finale. Plus juteux, plus dense et pourtant plus aérien, il se montre plus riche en saveurs. Il persiste, noble et même racé, un mot que j'utilise très peu souvent pour décrire Cheval Blanc.

Le vin s'étire sur le croquant du fruit, avec des notes de rose et de réglisse. Porté par le souffle frais des cabernets francs, ilrestitue la belle minéralité terrienne de ses sols. Une gaine de tanins bien mûrs mais vibrants s'impose, la tension est parfaite. Elle prolongera la garde de ce millésime qu'on pourra ouvrir relativement tôt.

Couleur intense, sombre et noire. Nez très aromatique, fin, subtil, noble, complexe, doux et profond. L'agitation le révèle merveilleusement frais, avec une touche crémeuse et beaucoup de pureté. Minutieux en entrée de bouche, aérien jusqu'au milieu, le vin se densifie peu à peu, sans perdre la minutie de sa texture. Il monte, rebondit et offre des sensations de cabernets sauvignons sur graves, dans une grande élégance. Tout est là et rien ne pèse. C'est incrachable ! Assemblage : 58 % merlot, 34 % cabernet franc, 8 % cabernet sauvignon.

This has loads of dark currant, fig and blackberry preserve notes that are supported by dense waves of loam and warm gravel, all hallmarks of the 2019 growing season. But there's an extra dimension here, thanks to its remarkably lush and fine-grained texture, with endless ripples of tobacco, bay and singled sandalwood and balsam wood through the finish. In the end, it's the combination of power, refinement and expressing an essentially unharnessable vintage that sets this red apart from the pack. Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Best from 2025 through 2045.

One of the unequivocally great wines of the vintage is the 2019 Cheval Blanc, a stunning young Saint-Émilion that wafts from the glass with aromas of wild berries and plums mingled with notions of lilac, pipe tobacco, violets, raw cocoa, licorice, crushed mint and burning embers. Full-bodied, layered and enveloping, it's deep and intense, with beautifully rich, powdery tannins and vibrant flavors. Concluding with a long, saline finish, this rivals the 2016 as the finest Cheval Blanc of the decade, and in many respects it might be thought of as the latter vintage's sun-kissed cousin. Blackcurrants, cassis, graphite and earth on the nose, then changing to roses, violets and berries. Full-bodied with incredible energy of fine tannins and lively acidity. It grows on the palate and escalates to the summit of perfect wine. Very powerful at the end. Holding back and a great finish. Quantity and quality. Menthol. Cool. One of the greatest young Cheval Blancs I have ever tasted. 58% merlot, 34% cabernet franc and 8% cabernet sauvignon. Great finish. Give it time. Try after 2028.

Un assemblage de 58 % de merlot, 34 % de cabernet franc et 8 % de cabernet-sauvignon, le grand cru livre un 2019 d'une grande profondeur. Au nez, le fruit se fait précis, croquant, délicat, autour de la cerise, de la mûre et du cassis frais, avec en appoint des notes de rose qui ajoutent à son élégance. On retrouve cette sensation de finesse absolue dans une bouche ample, dense et tendre, au toucher soyeux, avec en soutien des tanins veloutés qui poussent loin, très loin, la finale, aérienne, d'une fraîcheur remarquable. Un Cheval Blanc franc, moins exubérant que 2018 mais plus alerte.
