Couleur sombre, intense, belle et pourpre. Nez très aromatique, fin, fruité pur, complexe, noble et profond. Touche légèrement vanillée sur un fond de framboise très mûr. Velouté en entrée de bouche, complexe au milieu, extrêmement fondant, avec une grâce aromatique et tactile folle, le vin avance lentement, juteux et profond. Dans les tout derniers instants de la bouche, il marque une touche d'austérité rappelant le calcaire comme si le millésime l'avait invité à surligner son origine. C'est là une merveilleuse identité.

Bouquet subtile, complexe, frais, alliant parfaitement le charme du merlot et les notes florales ainsi que épicées du Franc. Nuances de cerises, de mûres et d'épices. En bouche Ausone affiche beaucoup de plénitude, de sérénité, d'entrée. Les tannins sont ronds, parfaitement intégrés, très fins et d'une puissance aisément sous-estimable, tellement elle se révèle avec finesse. Un Ausone charmant, précis, élégant et persistant.

Subtiles, komplexes, frisches Bouquet, das den Charme des Merlot perfekt mit den blumigen und würzigen Noten des Franc verbindet. Nuancen von Kirschen, Brombeeren und Gewürzen. Am Gaumen zeigt der Ausone viel Fülle, Gelassenheit und Eintreten. Die Tannine sind rund, perfekt integriert, sehr fein und von einer Kraft, die leicht unterschätzt werden kann, so sehr zeigt sie sich mit Finesse. Ein charmanter, präziser, eleganter und anhaltender Ausone.

This is powerful and blows away much of the competition with its depth and layers. This needs you to pull up a chair, take a beat, and let the flavours unroll. There is so much density to the blueberry, bilberry and smoked raspberry fruits that they start out knitted down, then as the oxygen opens them up the body of the wine widens and becomes fleshier and creamier, adding chocolate and mocha notes. The limestone scrape is there in spades through the finish, and this is a cleverly constructed wine. As ever Ausone is just a masterclass in how to take apart and then put back together a terroir. Great stuff. First year of official conversion to organic farming.

Peu loquace dans ses débuts, comme à son habitude, Château Ausone 2020 ne lâche pas grand-chose. La profondeur des massales de cabernet franc est cependant au rendez-vous et la verticalité classique du cru se conclut dans un ensemble plus velouté que le nez encore austère.

Anfangs wenig offen. Etwas Amarenakirsche. Pfeffrige Noten. Mit Luftkontakt Rote und Schwarze Johannisbeere. Dann mehr und mehr harzig-würzige Aromen. Im Mund fleischiges Tannin mit einem kraftvoll kalkmineralisch unterlegten Gerbstoffkorn, dazu eine kultivierte, integrierte und dennoch auch vife Säure. Sehr lange Plateauphase in der Struktur, vibrierend vor Spannung, und dann doch auch mit einer cremigen Unterlage, die alles einbettet und abrundet. Große Länge.

A blend of equal parts Cabernet Franc and Merlot, the 2020 Ausone wafts from the glass with aromas of dark berries and cherries mingled with notions of incense, spices and raw cocoa framed by a creamy patina of new oak. Medium to full-bodied, layered and seamless, it's pure and concentrated, with a sweet core of fruit, generously extracted tannins and a vanillin-inflected finish. Less seamless and sensual than the lovely 2019, it will require some patience to come together, but there is no mistaking the quality of the terroir here.

The flowers in the nose are spectacular with violets, lavender, and honeysuckle. Then there’s wet stone and freshly cut limestone. Plus there’s raspberries and blueberries. The palate is full-bodied yet very tight and reserved, with fine tannins that run the length of the wine as well as hints of cedar, sandalwood and vanilla bean. It’s long and very racy and complex. Needs eight to 10 years of bottle age to open and come together. Try after 2032.
