The funk that can make these young Bladnochs interesting got to be a bit too much for me on the nose, but the rest is unassailable.

This remains high quality, but it also continues to come at rather a high price.

Pronouncedly lactic in character –– yogurt & powdered nacho cheese. I have to keep reminding myself this isn't Jura. I remember the Bladnoch 10 y.o. from 2018 (WB113367) as kind of funky as well, but I don't remember there being cheese involved. The 2020 edition of the 11 y.o. (WB166633) was notably cleaner. Once past the dairy, you get lemon (perhaps also lemongrass), gooseberry, mint, and a faint honey aroma –– all quite typical for a young, ex-bourbon-matured malt. It's extremely fragrant and intense, however, which I find rather impressive. Certainly not a shy one.

No milky or cheesy notes on the palate. Lovely, mild and creamy attack, silky and sweet, without any youthful burn. Man, this is going to be great liquid once it reaches 18+ years of age. It's damn good already... I loved the 2020 bottling of the 11 y.o., and this one certainly plays in the same ballpark. Flavors: maize, golden syrup, sour/sweet yellow stone fruits, buttered and salted popcorn, chamomile tea, shortbread, and vanilla crescents. Can't get much better at this young age.

Pretty long, actually. Sweet and oily. Syrupy, honeyed, softly herbal or straw-like (that's the oak). Classy.
